Diet Coda is easily the best IDE (or whatever you want to call it) for the iPad. It has tons of very well-thought-through features and its clear its been tailored to the needs of busy web developers.
However, at a price four to ten times the average app purchase, I expect an app that is so polished, so perfect it makes me scream with joy. And Diet Coda is not that. It is prone to crashing, and is quirky in the details. For example, when switching from and to Diet Coda, it will occasionally scroll around wildly before moving to the position I was at. Highlighting is buggy for PHP and CSS code, failing to recognize syntactically valid structures (for example, highlighting for CSS classes will fail if the last property is not finalized by a semicolon, something which is not necessary per the CSS standard).
To be fair, I am working with it every day and Ive managed to get everything done that I needed. But Im withholding a good rating as long as the everyday handling is so rough around the edges, and the price is this high. One of the two needs to change.
