Code Editor by Panic App Reviews

Fantastic

It takes a few minutes to figure out the UI. After that, this app is wonderful. The terminal works well, and the editor is great. Thanks, Panic!

Buggy, Crashed in first 10 minutes

I am using an iPad Mini 2 and have used the app for under thirty minutes and have already seen the app freeze once and crash once. Maybe this is an iPad Mini specific problem? Also, the themes do not work properly when editing text which is pretty distracting.

So delicious.

Do you love your tools? Because if you get Coda, you will love your tools.

Great (but dont backspace)

This is a great program for couch/rest area code tweaks and writing. One star is docked though, because I can consistently make it crash while back-spacing in .css files (seems to be when dealing with rgba() values, but not exclusively).

Buy it and dont give it a second thought!

I pretty much never leave a review for an app, but I felt compelled to do so this time. Hands down the best $10 Ive ever spent on an app. I was worried about my productivity with doing web app development on an iPad, but this app has made it painless every step of the way! Plenty of keyboard shortcuts and a superbly put together interface make this thing feel more like a desktop application. The built in SSH client is really helpful as well.

Picks up where others leave off (updated2)

This app proves that you can manage and edit sites on the go. Panics Prompt 2 is a top notch SSH client and terminal emulator. Coda needs a little more baking still, but Ill keep using it because I think that the team is responsive and is trying to improve the app. It has an elegant look, and once you get the UI down, you see how powerful it is. This app will sit on top of Editorial when I need to spend more time editing HTML than just the basics. Read the start guide though first. Remember to create a local root folder for each site so that your files stay organized. Note: from Editorial (which supports Dropbox) you can copy a file over to Coda :) .

Takes the pain out of remote admin

If youve got to do something to your server and all you have is you iPhone and iPad, this is by far the most painless way to do it! Coda is (no surprise) well thought out and just works. OK, when you load a 80MB log file into the editor so you can search, it can lock up and crash, but so what? Thats a pretty extreme thing for an iPhone or iPad to do. For changing conf files, fixing typos, and doing admin tasks, this cant be beat! Thanks, Panic!

Instabuy!

There has never been a better iPad application. Ever.

Superb tool - powerful and gorgeous

This tool lets my iPhone and iPad level up and in many cases do what I normally needed my mac to do. Very powerful, very well-designed, professional software tools well worth the price. With update after update, it keeps getting better.

Amazing functionality on the go! (Updated)

Update: So, Ive been using this app more often and the constant crashes are really bugging me (pun somewhat intended). When editing a CSS file I had to relaunch the app multiple times (as in more than 5) in about 20 min of work. Really. Annoying. Otherwise, my late review still stands! The app is still worth your money, the problem is this buggy version. Late Review: This app is completely worth the price tag, if youre a web developer, youll love being able to code on the road. This version however keeps crashing on my iPad Air running iOS 9.2.1. I find myself again and again having to reopen the app. Luckily I always save the file before previewing it, so no data loss. The only thing missing, in my opinion, besides the bug fix, is a way to directly access and edit files from the cloud. Panic has their on panic sync, however since I already have a lot of files on my clouds, itd be a great improvement to my workflow to directly edit and re-upload them automatically, as well as view changes made on other devices. That said, great work with the app, its essential to my iPad now!

Handy. Lovingly crafted. A stunning example of what an iPad can do.

Even after all this time, when you think about it, the iPad feels like the magical device. A thin slab of glass that can deliver the worlds knowledge into your hands. But most folks use their iPad to only see bits of the world, less often to shape it. So its easy to get jaded. Then you pick up Coda 2. If youre a geek who ever imagined you could code a bit and SSH to your hearts delight while sitting under a tree on a beautiful day outside, this is your tool. Enjoy a day exploring the world without the burdens of a laptop, power brick, or electrical outlet anxiety. Its an insanely great and insanely well-priced glimpse of the future. Get it.

Powerfully beautiful

Ive been a huge advocate of Coda since I stumbled on their Mac app, and their iOS app does an absolutely incredible job bringing their editor to the small screen. Syntax highlighting is positively phenomenal, and the ability to use my iPad as a real-time display of my pages being edited? Thats definitely the cherry on top. Awesome job with the app!

Incredible value

Im a former web designer and only bought this app to make minor changes to my personal websites without needing to bring a laptop with me. Its incredibly thought out and feature rich, even when compared to the desktop version at ten times the price. If I was still full-time I might judge this app more critically, but only because the temptation would be there to have it fully replace a desktop environment—a testament to its utility and feature set. Panic has once again set the bar which all good Apple software should be judged by.

This app is sick

Definitely worth the money

Gorgeous

Note that you can change the default color theme (I have no idea why Panics default is light text on dark). This app is not as intuitive as youd expect from such a great company - I had to consult the "getting started" just to understand some basic things including changing settings for the editor (which it seems you can only do from the menu of an open file? why?) - and it doesnt seem to confirm on successful upload of the active file? But overall, this app is very powerful and it lets you unlock via your choice of password or Touch ID.

Add sorting / filters >:|

App looks great. Works great. Totally unusable if you have a lot of sites. I have about 500! THERE IS NO WAY TO SORT SITES OR SEARCH YOUR LIST. EVERYTHING IS IN RANDOM ORDER. Imagine having to slowly scroll just to find a clients site. Embarrassing... I asked them if they were going to add it and I was told not any time soon. FAIL.

Just Amazing!!!

This app deserves 5 stars!!! I almost forget that Im not in a desktop. I was a bit scared since I seen like 2 or 3 comments saying it was buggy and crashed, but its working flawlessly. Maybe they already fixed the bugs since I purchased it this week, or maybe its because Im on a iPad Pro. Nonetheless, I recommend this app for developers. A must have! One request to Panic: Can you consider adding an option to minify a CSS & JS file, maybe with YUI Compressor. I tend use this on Netbeans a lot (every time I edit CSS or JS) would be great to see Coda with that option.

Fantastic App

Great on everything from the iPhone to the iPad Pro. Its amazing what Panic have been able to do with this app!

Buggy

Just bought this app and was excited to use it. However, it keeps crashing on my iPad Pro when I am editing my CSS file. Every time the curly braces auto-complete, the app hangs and eventually crashes. Ill rate it five stars if not only for this issue.

Frequent Crashes

I love this app and it is amazing, although when ever I create a CSS stylesheet I can type everything thing in but when I put an attribute in it will just crash and it will not save my work, so I just recommend fixing
