The best IDE for the iPad, but buggy and quirky

Diet Coda is easily the best IDE (or whatever you want to call it) for the iPad. It has tons of very well-thought-through features and its clear its been tailored to the needs of busy web developers. However, at a price four to ten times the average app purchase, I expect an app that is so polished, so perfect it makes me scream with joy. And Diet Coda is not that. It is prone to crashing, and is quirky in the details. For example, when switching from and to Diet Coda, it will occasionally scroll around wildly before moving to the position I was at. Highlighting is buggy for PHP and CSS code, failing to recognize syntactically valid structures (for example, highlighting for CSS classes will fail if the last property is not finalized by a semicolon, something which is not necessary per the CSS standard). To be fair, I am working with it every day and Ive managed to get everything done that I needed. But Im withholding a good rating as long as the everyday handling is so rough around the edges, and the price is this high. One of the two needs to change.

Nice but

Password saving for sites and master password for coda!!!

Need iCloud sync

It neeeeds a sync with all servers/sites from Coda(2) for mac! Dont want to configure all twice :( The editor and file handling is nice! Cool editor, like Coda for Mac in small

Good Start

But there goes more

Absolutely number 1

I use the Mac version of Coda on an hourly basis and love it. I have been looking for an excuse to use my iPad in place of my laptop and this application certainly qualifies it. As a webmaster and IT specialist, no serious programmer should be without this app. Great job guys and I look forward to more updates and applications from you.

crashes when trying to open any file

the current update does not work anymore. crashes everytime when i try to open a file, no matter which type (css, html, js). im using an ipad 3. i dont recomment anyone to load this version as it is totally useless for me at the moment :-(

Crashes

This version crashes if you want to add a new site. Normally its 5 stars.

Needs to be updaten for iOS 8

Some things like Keywork donest work in iOS 8

Please Update

Hope you still working on this great app! We need an update, also to be able to sync with a panic account!

Scala syntax highlighting missing

It seems to do what it should. Unfortunately there is no scala syntax highlighting.

Update, please!

This app really needs an update!!!

Please Update and sync

I can not use Diet Coda because there is no sync of sites.

Crash, buggy App

In the test the app crash more then 15 times on scrolling in the php code on 3 different devices iPad retina, I hope this will be fixed soon. Its stupid to select a file in the file browser and klick again "edit in coda" the see the code! I want klick on the file and see the code without clicking stupid buttons. Its buggy if you want select something in the code , not funny !

Needs improvement!

Problems: Coda crashes far too much, when editing local projects. When compressing a directory, included subdirectories are broken. Wishlist: Please add keyboard file navigation! Sorry, but right now textastic + textexpander is the superior solution.

iPad is made for it

If anything, this is what the iPad was made for. Just imagine you are bored waiting at the airport. Why not try out some quick changes to your web site? No problem.

Crash, crash...

After opening, I push the sign plus and crash... Not working...

Great compliment to Coda!

This is a lovely translation of Coda to the iPad. Ive only started to use it but cant wait to dig in and find all of the little touches that Panic has no doubt added. I am certain that this will be the premiere web development app for the iPad until they release version 2. Thank you Panic, this has just greatly improved the usefulness of my iPad.

The best Web Development app for Mac comes to iPad!

I have always been a fan of Coda, and Im glad to see the new 2.0 release on Mac... as well as this awesome new iPad version! Get it. You wont be disappointed. Its simply the best text-based web development tool out there.
