Glaring omission

First thing I noticed is theres no iCloud support to sync site info? Im kinda surprised about that considering the desktop version has it. It was the first thing I expected when I bought this app.

Insanely great

One of a kind app from one of the best development studios on the planet. One of my favorite iPad apps to date. It wrinkles my brain how amazing it is.

Doesnt work

Please i understand its 50% off, but make it work! Cant pass the + sign

Great start

The concept is great. Its still quite buggy though. Freezes on large files and has issues switching between sites. Also there is no ssh/sftp tunneling which is a big downer. Syntax highlighting for more languages would be nice too.

Amazing app!

Nothing like it on the app store. This app is clean, efficient, intuitive, and beautiful. I hope they add support for programming languages in the future! Also it would be nice to get the closing braces automatically entered in CSS when I open one up. I already own the prompt app so I knew this would be a great buy. Everything works as advertised, just connect to your server and your off. I did notice a new line glitch however in the editor, when I was cleaning up some code, where it did not recognize any white space I was typing in and the new line text visually stayed on the left **there is no new line character being entered when text wraps around to another line**. Also the super-loupe text zoom has been inaccurate. It will either not land my cursor between the characters I specified (usually its more to the right) or it wont let me scan over to the text I wish edit at all (stopping somewhere on the left of the screen) **this was due to the orientation, and changing it to landscape and back to portrait fixed it**. But that aside, this apps pretty much perfect for coders. Will re-evaluate when bugs are worked out. Looking forward to future updates! **I am also unable to rename files and folders I create. The moment I touch the keyboard it just just exits the typing layout leaving the untitled name.**

10$ for that !

Still crashing when pressing + sign. Please fix it quickly !

Room for improvement

It needs the ability to sync Sites with the Mac version through iCloud. Offline editing would be awesome.

Great Application with a few (Annoying) bugs

This is by far the best application for website development on the iPad! One thing this app needs in offline editing. According to Panics Twitter page, they are thinking about how to do it. I hope we see it soon. The only reason I gave this application a 4 out of 5 is because of a few annoying bugs: - Crashes often - Impossible to type in block comments (The application slows to a halt, and if I am using a Bluetooth keyboard all the letters are doubled) - I have a workaround, but Id rather not have to use it. - Occasionally I cannot rename a file/folder (restarting the app appears to fix this) - Unable to view hidden files on the server (including .htaccess) even though the app asked me if I wanted to turn on viewing of hidden files (which didnt do anything) I have reported my issues to Panic, so hopefully they get fixed soon! If all my issues get fixed, I will up my rating to 5 out of 5.

Well done Panic!

Integrates well with Coda for mac for quick updates on the go.

Very Poor Error Handling

- Losing network connectivity causes the SSH terminal to lock completely with no open to reconnect besides restarting the application. - Currently the text editor has a copy of my source file that never successfully saved. Attempting to save again, even with modifications, claims to succeed but a cat on the remote computer shows the original version. This persists across restarts - Entering command mode in Vim causes the application to hang then crash 100% of the time The remote system is a vanilla Lion machine using password authentication - nothing exotic The above issues make it unusable for my intended purpose of using it on public transit in Vancouver. The LTE network has good enough bandwidth and latency but Diet Codas poor error handling means I spent the majority of my time restarting the application after traveling through a dead spot or suspending the iPad for a transfer

Great companion app for Coda 2

It would be nice if this app automatically interfaced with the local version of Coda 2 on my MBP without having to setup FTP locally for each site that I am currently working on. Other than that, a great companion app to Coda 2.

Not usable

This app is clearly well designed and has a thoughtful feature set however it is not ready for real world use. I have to think anyone raving about it has not tried to use it as a mobile application. The problem is that it continually locks up. Imo, in time this will be a great app for sure but for now Panic is in effect charging you a fee to test their app. NOTE: if you purchase Coda 2 via the Panic website you will not be able to sync your bookmarks and may find yourself typing out mixed case alpha numeric passwords on a touch screen for an evening.

Love it

Apps like these only exist on iOS. I can seriously get some real work done while laying in bed. Which is exactly what I was doing five minutes ago.

Brilliant

Will not disappoint. Sleek, intuitive interface. Fast.

Awesome but buggy

I really like Diet Coda - when it works. Which is sometimes for hours at a time. It really is handy, especially for mobile development, but it likes to hang up and not phone back. Cant tell if the fault lies with Coda or Diet Coda but I really hope they fix it. Costs too much for bugs like this.

Want to like, too buggy

- syntax highlighting kills performance and causes crashes - switching between applications for a moment means you need to sign in to whatever site you were working on, and it seems that it will arbitrarily save or lose your work...and undo history - often crashes for no obvious reason - hasnt been updated for over half a year

A little disappointed...

The app hangs quite a bit and its overall slow, and I was extremely disappointed right off the bat to see that I no way to import either my numerous favorites from Coda 2 Mac, nor from Transmit. No synchronization of any kind with either the favorites or local projects on a Mac is very sad, not even Dropbox. That makes it very painful to keep your folder on all devices up-to-date... Therefore this app is way overpriced for what it does. For $5,99 only you can get a much better editor that synchronizes on every popular service out there and handles local files too (not sure Im supposed to post the name of it here). Overall though, its a Diet success for me. Diet Coda is a well thought out and user-friendly application. Image upload and preview are definitely a plus. The only addition that I think is a MUST to give it one more star is a developer inspector in the preview window that would highlight divs and elements on select. That would make it much closer to an actual website editor...

Awesome

So much functionality wrapped into a super clean and tight package. New local file support is fantastic.

Great! Works the way Ive always wanted!

I just followed a blog post on the Nitrous.io blog on setting this up. It was painless and in a matter of minutes I had a node environment available to my iPad. I would try this without a bluetooth keyboard... but other than that this is my new favorite app.

Needs Bitbucket/Git.

Okay, so having Dropbox integration is great, but its not what we need. Considering most projects use Git version control, support for importing or syncing with repository services such as Bitbucket or Github is what this app really needs.
